Best 5 Things About Farmamerica
Do you think about how farming has changed over the years? Farmamerica is a wonderful place to visit to learn about the history of agriculture and how it has changed over the years. Let’s start by exploring the 5 Best Things about Farmamerica.
What is Farmamerica?
Located on 360 acres near Waseca, Minnesota, one can learn, relax, and enjoy many immersive experiences related to agriculture, both historical and today ag practices. Both self-guided and guided walking tours, field trips, day camps are available.
Farmamerica has a visitor center, a pond, a farmstead, and a nearly 1-mile walking trail. I recommend taking yourself back and imagining farm life in the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. Imagine children attending school in a 1-room schoolhouse. Imagine living on a 1850s farm home without all the modern amenities we take for granted.

1) Lots of Agricultural History
This is perhaps one of my favorite aspects of Farmamerica. To see how far modern agriculture has come compared to how our forefathers farmed. Visit a blacksmith shop, a 1930s dairy farm, a country church, a feed mill and a 1850s homestead.

2) Tours, tours and more tours
Who doesn’t love tours! There are many tour options available. I recommend you call ahead of time for tour accommodations.
3) Events
Farmamerica is a fun place for events. From Goat Yoga to Day Camps to Pizza Camps. Recently, I attended the Meat-a-Palooza event. Lots of good food, drink and conversations. It was a beautiful night to enjoy the facility and vendors. In addition, they have just added a Coffee Club on Thursdays. How fun!

4) Ag Education
Ranking right up with Ag History, I love the Ag Education opportunities Farmamerica has for students. Fameramerica hosts many school groups for a wide-range of hands-on and engaging ag educational activities.

5) Agricultural Information
Please spend some time in the visitor’s center, which also houses the Ag Around You Discovery Center. There is so much information and so much to learn. I would venture to guess that you will have a (or more) “I had no idea” moment while perusing the discovery center.
